About
A hobby project: an idle game made by one person, and the record of how it was built.
Who runs this
This site is run by one person as a hobby. It is not a company. The game and everything written here were made by its author.

About the game
Crystal Cavern is an idle game that runs in a browser. There is nothing to download and nothing to sign up for, and it is free.
- It makes no sound. No effects, no music. The author is deaf, and the aim was a design where the feedback holds up without relying on audio
- You can choose how it reads. Four text sizes and five colour schemes, two of them maximum-contrast. It is fully playable from the keyboard
- Seventeen languages. English, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Korean, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai and Indonesian. The language is taken from your device or browser; anything else is shown in English
- No server. Progress is stored only in your own browser
The reasoning behind all of this is set out in the making of.
The iPhone app
The same game is also available as an iPhone app. See it on the App Store (free, iPhone only).
It is the same game as the one on this site. Progress does not carry over by itself, but you can make a code under Save data in the Menu and load it on the other side to carry on between the browser and the app.
In the app, claiming a bonus plays a video advert (Google AdMob). Whether to watch is your choice each time. How the app handles information is set out in the app's privacy policy.
Requirements
Any reasonably current browser. Tested on recent versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge. The layout adapts to phones and desktops alike.
If your browser is set to block site data, or you are in private browsing, progress will not be saved. The game still plays; it simply starts over when you close it.
Liability
No responsibility is accepted for any loss arising from use of this site or the game.
Because progress lives in the browser, clearing browser data removes it. If a run matters to you, export a save code from the menu and keep it somewhere.
