A quiet idle game with no sound
Crystal Cavern
Tap the crystal, buy buildings, and work your way down through twelve seams of a cave that never makes a sound. Playable in English, 日本語, 简体中文, 한국어 and Español.
What it is
Tap the crystal in the middle and you earn crystals. Spend them on buildings and they keep earning while you are away. As your all-time total grows the seam changes, and the crystal shifts colour and shape with it. You start in quartz and finish, eventually, in omega — about 104,000 metres down.
It is an idle game, so there is nothing to rush. Close the tab, come back tomorrow, and what accumulated while you were gone is waiting.
There is no sound
No effects, no music. That is not an oversight — it was decided before the first line of code. The person who made this is deaf, and a game that answers you with sound is a game he cannot enjoy. Adding effects and hoping they felt right would have been dishonest work.
So the feedback is light, colour and movement instead. Tap and the crystal swells, shards scatter from where you touched, and a number lifts away. Reach a new seam and the crystal itself changes colour. Play with the volume off and nothing is missing. The making of goes into how that was worked out.
Readable at any size
Text comes in four sizes, and everything scales together — the numbers, the buttons, even the little "+100" that floats up when you tap. There are five colour schemes, two of them maximum-contrast.
What you can afford is marked by a symbol as well as a colour, and the whole game can be played from the keyboard.
